Why we started

HR software in India tends to arrive in one of two shapes. Either it is an enterprise suite priced and configured for a thousand-person company, sold with a six-month implementation, or it is a light attendance tracker that stops exactly where payroll begins. A company of forty people falls between the two, and usually ends up running attendance in one tool, payroll in a spreadsheet, and PF and ESIC returns by hand on the last working day of the month.

We built CredoHRMS for that company — the one where HR, payroll and the PF challan all land on the same desk, and none of it is that person's actual job.

How we think about the product

You should be able to see what you are buying. Plans here differ on two things — how many people they cover and which modules they carry — and both are printed on the plan card rather than discovered later. A module your plan does not include is hidden from the app instead of dangled and refused, and the one capability sold separately, live GPS tracking, is named as an add-on rather than folded into a tier.

Attendance has to work away from a desk. A great deal of Indian work happens at client sites, on the road, and across branches that share nothing but a company name. Attendance is marked from a phone with a selfie and a location, and can be bound to a registered device — because the honest question about attendance software is not whether it records a punch, but whether you can trust the punch it recorded.

The details are where payroll is won or lost. Professional tax follows the slab of the state an employee is posted in, not one national rate. A night shift that crosses midnight belongs to one working day, not two. Getting these right is unglamorous, and it is most of the work.

What we are building next
